I’m one of those people, who HAS to have all the “right” stuff, when taking on a new project. Soapmaking is no different. As soon as I decided I wanted to make Cold Process soap, I knew I had to find the right mold, to house my soap batter, as it completes the saponification process.
I knew I wanted a wood mold — wood means “earth”, and it’s natural. No plastic molds, although these plexiglass babies look HOT! So, I searched the internet, high and low. Seek and you’ll find. I found the TOG Soapmaking Tools, and my search ended. I ordered the “Economy” mold, to get me started. It’ll make 10 nice size bars of soap — just enough to push me over the top, so I’ll quickly follow with an order for the triple log slab mold.
What is there to say? The molds are constructed from premium White Pine, with solid brass hinges, and tight-fitting lids. They come with built-in reusable liners — no sunken faces, after realizing (in the middle of a soapmaking project) you have no waxed paper for your molds.
I just talked to Paul (the owner) today…my soap mold is on its way! Yay!
